The startup’s CEO Sam Altman thanked her for helping the company achieve its goals and for her support.
I replied with this. Mira, thank you for everything.
It’s hard to overstate how much Mira has meant to OpenAI, our mission, and to us all personally.
I feel tremendous gratitude towards her for what she has helped us build and accomplish, but I most of all feel personal…

Hours after Murati’s announcement, it was announced that Chief Scientist Bob McGrew and Vice President for Research Barrett Zof had resigned. Altman statedthat this decision was made by them by mutual consent and independently of each other.
Mark Chen has been promoted to vice president of research, and Jakub Paczki will replace McGrew.
In August, OpenAI co-founder John Schulman left to join rival AI startup Anthropic, and President Greg Brockman took an extended leave of absence until the end of the year.
The management changes come amid talks to raise new investment at a valuation of $150 billion.
Altman planned to change the startup’s corporate structure to attract funds.
