Three million people have so far lost their lives to Covid-19 worldwide since December 2019 when coronavirus in China, according to a report by the French Agency based on data from the health authorities and published at 11:30 Greek time.
The United Kingdom is the most affected country in Europe with 127,225 deaths and today records about 30 new deaths per day after the peak at the end of January where daily deaths in the country exceeded 1,200.
The country came out of the lockdown on Monday after more than three months. In December, it launched its mass vaccination campaign in which 60% of the population has been vaccinated with at least the first dose.
The United States, the world’s worst-hit country with 566,224 deaths, experienced a pandemic in the end of January, although some states have seen a rise again.
The benefits of vaccination are most visible in Israel, where 6 in 10 people have received at least the first dose.
In Brazil, the second most affected country in the world with 368,749 dead, about 3,000 deaths are recorded daily.
The death toll is rising sharply in India, where more than 1,000 people die daily from covid-19.
