Three people were arrested this Friday (24) during Operation Água Pura, by the Federal Police, which aims to identify those responsible for the pollution of Lake Puraquequara, in the east zone of Manaus, where hundreds of dead fish were recently found.
Fish such as Jaraquis, Tamoatás, Piabas, among others, were found lifeless. The operation was conducted by the Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) in conjunction with the Federal Police and the Amazonas Environmental Protection Institute (Ipaam).
In the images, it is possible to see several dead fish throughout the lake Puraquequara. Many are scattered along the banks, while others are grouped in different parts of the lake.
The suspects are being investigated for crimes of pollution, storage of dangerous products and breach of embargo.
During the operation, three septic tank cleaning trucks and 380 liters of irregular diesel were seized. Two companies were embargoed and fined a total of R$796,000.
