Three people died and six were injured after an electric trio overturned on the morning of last Sunday (20), on a section of the PE-089 highway, close to the municipality of Machados, in the Zona da Mata Norte of Pernambuco.
The driver of the vehicle, who participated in the re-election party of Mayor Juarez da Banana (PSB) the night before the incident, reportedly lost control of the trio, who plunged into a cliff in Curva da Pedra, a place known for its high incidence of accidents.
Teams from the Military Police, the Fire Department and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) worked to rescue the victims.
According to firefighters, two victims died at the scene, including the driver of the electric trio. The Pernambuco Civil Police reported that a third person died after being taken to a nearby hospital.
In a video released by Machados City Hall, Mário Alves, medical director of the Edson Álvares Municipal Hospital, reported that six patients were admitted to the unit.
Two patients had serious trauma and were transferred to Hospital da Restauração, in Recife. One of the victims was taken to a private hospital, while another left the hospital without medical authorization.
The Civil Police have already started investigations to determine the causes of the accident. The investigation is under the responsibility of the Machados Police Station.
The mayor of Machados, Juarez da Banana, lamented what happened on social media: “It is with sadness that I receive the news of the accident with Trio Zeus, and the death of three of the components, in addition to the six injured, who are currently receiving all necessary care.”
