The decision was announced in February, but has been intensively implemented since August, as the top executive warned that it may take three years to get everyone back in the offices. The company therefore sent an email with three detailed steps to its managers, it says Business Insider.
However, returning to work in person will not be an easy task, because the majority of employees who worked remotely, was hired during the pandemic, to work from home. So many are reacting, considering that Amazon is violating their contract.
Three-step dismissal
In the past, Amazon has received criticism and complaints for violating labor rights, as a result of which send email with instructions to managers her, making it clear that many must be careful in their movements.
Specifically, the first step is to collect evidence that will prove that the employee is absent from the officebecause he is working at home and not because he took sick leave or something else happened.
Then, at second stepthe manager will arranges a meeting with the employee and will record extensively in an email what was said. He will then inform the company and if necessary hold a second meeting.

The third stepis that the person in charge must decide after the second meeting, whether to give a “last chance” to the employee in a new meeting – in case he refuses to go to the office three times a week – or whether to fire him.
“If the employee does not show immediate and continuous presence after the first conversationthe managers should then conduct a follow-up discussion within a reasonable time frame (depending on the situation of the employees). This conversation 1) will reinforce that going back to the office 3+ days a week is a requirement of their job and 2) explain that continued non-compliance without legitimate reason may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of your employment,” the guidelines state, among other things.
