Three teachers die in car accident on BR-267, in Minas Gerais

Three teachers from the state education network died, on Tuesday night (19), in an accident on BR-267, close to Juiz de Fora in Minas Gerais .

According to the management of the Maria Ilydia Resende Andrade State School, they were returning from the Valadares unit, where they taught together.

In a statement, the Fire Department reported that there was a head-on collision between two cars, with seven victims in total. In one of the vehicles, three occupants died at the scene. In the other car, two people were trapped in the wreckage and two others were on the road.

The survivors were treated by firefighters and SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) teams.

The Government of Minas Gerais mourned the deaths of professors Driely Cunha, Roberto Costa and João de Almeida. Classes at the two schools where the teachers taught were suspended this Wednesday (20).

“The Regional Education Superintendency (SRE) of Juiz de Fora, responsible for schools in the region, monitors the situation and provides support to teachers’ families and the school community at state schools Maria Ilydia Resende Andrade and Governador Juscelino Kubitschek, where the employees worked ”, said the management.

The Civil Police and the Federal Highway Police are investigating the causes of the accident.
