Three-year-old Sony Xperia and four-year-old Xiaomi Mi Note 2 received Android 11

Sony unveiled the Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact in fall 2017 at IFA in Berlin. Both smartphones originally came with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system installed.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 debuted even earlier – in October 2016, and out of the box was content with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 shell.

As reported in the community of mobile developers XDA Developers, for the models of the Sony Xperia XZ1 series, the unofficial LineageOS 18.1 shell has been ported based on the latest version of the Android 11 operating system. Of the known bugs, only the missing grammar check function is noted if you change the default keyboard.

For Xiaomi Mi Note 2, a beta version of the Pixel Experience based on Android 11 has become available, including all Google applications and Pixel “goodies”, including the Pixel launcher, wallpapers, icons, fonts and loading animations.
