Nearly a dozen members of the same family – including three young girls – remain missing more than three days later the Hamas raid on their Israeli kibbutza close friend told the New York Post on Tuesday.
Israeli lawyer Shaked Haran’s parents, sister, brother-in-law, young nieces, uncles and aunts are missing after the surprise attack early Saturday morning, the family friend said.
Haran’s boss friend, Manhattan-born Rachel Gurr, said a chilling phone call — possibly from one of their captors — came Sunday as family members frantically called missing relatives.
“Someone picked up one of the phones and it sounded like Hebrew with an Arabic accent and said something like ‘Kidnapped’ and ‘Gaza’ and hung up,” Gur said. “That was the last sign of life.”

Gur, a lawyer and assistant minister in Israel who studied law at New York University, said Haran has been on her staff since she graduated from law school — and is like family to her.
Haran’s family lived in Kibbutz Be’eri near the Gaza Strip, one of the first sites to be attacked early Saturday – and where at least 100 bodies have been found this week.
Gur said Haran, who is pregnant with two young children, is safe with her husband – but is searching for her missing relatives. The last contact with her father came immediately after the attack, when her brother Haran received a short message from their parents.
“The parents sent a WhatsApp saying we are in the security room,” Gur said. “”There are armed terrorists, masked terrorists. We don’t think we’ll make it out alive.” And that was all. He just lost touch. This happened on Saturday around 7:30 in the morning.”
Among the missing are Haran’s nieces – Yachel Neri Soham, 3, Haveh Soham, 8, and Noam Avigdori, 12 – who are German nationals, while other relatives are Italian citizens, Gur said.
