Two people were arrested last Thursday (17) on suspicion of carrying out 40 scams in the sale of travel packages. The arrests took place in Rio Verde (GO), a municipality located approximately 230 kilometers from Goiânia.
According to the Civil Police of Goiás, the arrest of the pair took place during a joint action between the Civil Police of the state and São Paulo.
The police highlight that the suspects, investigated since January, sold travel packages to the victims, but did not deliver them. Since the beginning of the practice, those investigated had left the city and were on the run until the date of their arrest.
Among those arrested are the owner of a tourism company and an employee responsible for the false negotiations. The damage caused to the victims is estimated at R$70,000.
According to Nicolas Alvarenga, the delegate responsible for the case, the suspects operated through social networks and offered the victims an advantageous installment plan as a way of paying for travel packages.
The suspects, investigated for the crime of embezzlement, were arrested in São Paulo and transferred to the Rio Verde prison.
