TikTok admitted to spying on journalists

He went on to admit that he was watching journalists TikTokaccording to what was first reported by the New York Times and then by Forbes.

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, is under fire for one thing scandal involving four of its employees. The employees in question was found to have accessed the personal data of two journalists working for the Financial Times and BuzzFeed.

The data accessed includes journalists’ IP addresseswhich were used to determine whether they were close to TikTok employees who were suspected of leaking information to the press.

ByteDance CEO Rubo Liang said it is “deeply disappointed” in his mail to the employees and how “the public trust that we have worked so hard to build is about to be severely undermined by the misconduct of a few individuals.”

Because violated users’ personal data and privacythe four employees, two based in the US and two in China, were dismissed from their positions.
