1- Hello! Introduce yourself for us!
Hello I’m Sara Giacani alias Green Pills and I’m a radio speaker, I love green and rock’n’roll.
2- How did the idea of talking about sustainability on TikTok come about?
I am passionate about eco-sustainable alternatives and always curious to discover new possibilities to act with more awareness in the environment around us, so I created a radio program within my broadcast on Radio Rock which speaks of daily choices to reduce our environmental impact together with Sofia Stella from The green choice. From there I decided to decline the experience of Green Pills also on TikTok.
3- What video did the community like the most?
The first video of the “Things I don’t buy anymore” series, in which I talk about disposable products that we all have at home, and which I have replaced with equally functional but more sustainable alternatives.

4- What are the issues on which there is less awareness in your opinion?
Even if we finally talk about it more, I believe that the issues we should become more aware of are those related to the intensive exploitation of animals, the excessive consumption of goods and the protection of the seas and oceans, fundamental for life on Earth.
5- What is the character that inspires you in the fight against climate change?
I like to think that each of us can be inspired by ourselves in the fight against climate change, because we are part of the environment, just like everything else and if Terra he is in danger, we are too; everyone can be an example and an engine of this change. And then of course, I love Greta Thunberg.
6- What was the first change you made to your lifestyle to make it green?
Probably the first thing I did and wanted to do for many years was to become a vegetarian. But everyone can start from the habit that best lends itself to his lifestyle. There is a long way to go, that in the meantime it is good to start. To be a conscious and above all constant change over time, however, it is important to think about the actions that can be put into practice today, and I am sure that the others will arrive tomorrow. Starting the change will make us look at everything from a different perspective. You get a taste for it.

7- What is instead what you commit yourself to do for the future?
I am trying to significantly reduce the production of my waste, and this is an exercise where you can really improve a lot over time. It involves making conscious choices and asking the question more often: “what do I need this?”. When we buy an object we think about its use but not about its disposal or the real need to own it. Asking this question more often can help balance our properties.
8- What is the thing that makes you most angry among the blatantly non-green things that people do?
More than a thing and an attitude, not very green for me; when the first reaction to the discovery of a behavior that is harmful to the environment is refusal, as if to say “I don’t believe it” or “it doesn’t concern me”. Perhaps precisely because taking steps towards sustainability is a rather urgent necessity, we are inclined to postpone our change and to always blame someone else for this situation. The truth can be scary, but everyone has a weight and a task they can perform to improve their choices, and turning away or ignoring the problem will not help us and the next generations to lay the foundations for this change.
9- Can you tell me three curiosities about the green that few people know?
Did you know that an Italian company creates shoes with fruit peel?
Did you know that a Mexican researcher made a bioplastic made from cactus juice?
Did you know that there are murals created with a paint that is able to absorb the smog of big cities?

10- How do you dream of the future of the Earth?
With a good dose of utopia, necessary for me to move forward, I dream of a more just Earth, where there are more rights for men and consequently also for the environment that surrounds them. In fact, environmental protection is also linked to human rights. I dream of one Terra in which man can once again remember that the most precious asset he possesses is not what is his only, but what he shares with all other living beings.
11- What is the most urgent measure to take to solve the climate crisis?
From the point of view of the individual citizen, there are many small actions to consider. Actions that are useless if done individually but that can generate an impact if done by many. At the same time, legislators and companies producing goods should recognize that change has begun and develop alternative and more sustainable ideas. I don’t think there is a single measure to be taken, and I don’t think the climate crisis can be resolved definitively. I believe it is a complex process in which everyone in their role will have to play their part.
