The 23-year-old’s family held a body mass present at the São Bernardo parish in Guadalajara, in the center of Mexico, while authorities continue to investigate the murder, President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Thursday.
Authorities said Marquez’s death is being investigated as possible femicide – the murder of a woman because of her genre.
The attack generated indignation in a country that already faces high levels of violence against women.
