Knowing the time we spend on the Net can encourage us to use it more responsibly, some studies they prove it. And speaking of that, over the next few weeks, TikTok has announced that for accounts of users under the age of 18 the daily usage limit will be reset to 60 minutes: the decision would have been made after consulting with academic research and experts from the Digital Wellness Lab of Boston Children’s Hospital.
In other words, you will be able to scroll through the contents of the platform to the maximum for one hour a day.
Obviously, the block will not be an irreversible limitation but when the teenager wants to continue using the service beyond the limit imposed, he will have to enter an access code: you will then be prompted for a active decision. If they spend more than 100 minutes on TikTok a day, they will then be prompted to set a new limit.
And it would not be the only novelty introduced in order to support an appropriate use of the service but there are various functions of Family connection primarily intended for parents. In fact, adults will be able to set the daily usage limit also applying variations according to the days of the week, in order to balance the time spent on the app with school or family commitments, for example.
Also, within Family Connection the summary screen will show the elapsed time on the app, how many times has it been opened and information aboutday and night access. Finally, a feature is coming that allows parents to schedule times to silence notifications: from now on, members between the ages of 13 and 15 will not receive notifications after 9pm, while for those between 16 and 17, deactivation will start at 10pm.
