TikTok will share profits with creators, but not with all

Yesterday, May 4, employees of the entertainment social network TikTok officially spoke about a new way to earn money for the authors of short videos. The fact is that now the company plans to share part of the income with content creators in the event that their videos are shown along with certain advertising. In fact, the new program is reminiscent of the monetization of YouTube videos, which should eventually lead to significant payouts from the platform, which has not yet provided its authors with significant ways to earn money on unique content.

However, it is worth noting right away that the new monetization program will allow only well-known content authors to earn money, while newbies from TikTok Pulse will not receive anything. The company said that only those content authors who have already gained at least 100,000 subscribers will have access to the new program – they will receive access to a part of the income from showing ads that are included in the video. At the same time, as part of TikTok Pulse, advertising integrations will be launched only on 4% of the best videos of the platform, so, apparently, even with an impressive number of subscribers, not everyone has a chance to make an impressive profit.

Moreover, the social network will launch the payout program gradually – at first, TikTok Pulse will be launched only in the United States, this was planned for June. Only at the end of autumn, the company has plans to expand the regions where bloggers will be able to receive part of the advertising revenue. But those content creators who get signed up for the program should make a hefty profit – Sandie Hawkins, CEO of TikTok’s global business solutions in North America, told The Verge that the platform will give content creators 50% of advertising revenue.
