The gym from a place of exercise, wellness and well-being, it often turns into a place where people feel uncomfortable. Either because someone comments (positively or negatively does not matter) persistently on their body, or because they engage in delinquent behaviors. The vast majority of women have to tell a disturbing incident that happened to them in a sports field.
Often women, as a means of preventing such behaviors, share their negative experiences in the gym, from taking videos or photographing without permission to harassment.
But a woman has gone viral, along with an unknown man at the gym, after posting a video of a positive experience she had at the gym, praising him for not staring at the rear her while doing an exercise right in front of him.
The video with 4.5 million views
His user TikTok, Libby Christensen (@libbychristensen) was videotaping herself doing squat exercises, with a man sitting behind her in the corner of the video, looking at the floor before proceeding to his own workout.
“I just have to praise this guy who was behind me while I was squatting,” Christensen wrote in the video. “I felt so uncomfortable that everyone was looking at me, but I was very grateful that my butt was not the focus of this man’s attention.” After watching the video, she confessed that the young man’s actions made her feel “comfortable”.
Since sharing her positive experience in the gym, Christensen’s TikTok has received 4.5 million views, almost 425,000 likes, along with thousands of comments from people who share their thoughts.
There were men who noted how they try to avoid making women feel uncomfortable in the gym.
One person wrote: “The classic tactic of looking at the floor: Hmmm, yes, the floor is made of flooring.”
“When I am in this position in the gym, I move in fear that the women think I am someone abnormal watching them. “The uncomfortable feeling sometimes goes in both directions,” said another person.
To this comment Christensen replied: “I definitely feel you here! “It is difficult to measure people’s intentions, especially when we all walk in silence!”
