Tiktoker sews dresses designed by her grandmother 80 years ago; see the result

In 1940, Georgie had a dream: to be a fashion designer, but she gave up before finishing her studies because she needed to take care of family members who were not in good health.

After 80 years, the dream of bringing his creations to life was realized by his granddaughter Julia, who recorded and shared the entire process on social media.

@_boringbb_ Which one should I make next? Yesterday grandma said “I lived long enough to see one of them come off the paper” I don’t think it should stop with this dress #grandmasoftiktok #vintagefashion #sewingforyoupage ♬ Dreamy – Elijah Lee

In January 2021, Julia posted a video displaying some of her grandmother’s sketches on TikTok, and it became her first post on the platform to go viral, receiving 2.7 million views.

At the time, Julia had very little sewing experience, but decided to turn the sketches into real dresses, watching tutorials on YouTube to learn basic sewing skills.

Videos of her revealing the finished pieces to Georgie continue to go viral, often receiving thousands of views and hundreds of comments per video.

@_boringbb_ The second design I made of Grandma’s. I ‘m starting with some of the easier ones and working my way up. This design was so summery I wanted to knock it out before it gets cold here. #grandmasoftiktok #reveal #surprise #sewingforyoupage ♬ Possibility – Lykke Li
@_boringbb_ This is the 5th Grandma Design I’ve attempted. For this dress, I used all thrifted materials (except the thread 😅). I have a big surprise in the works for you & Grandma so I have been sewing my butt off to create dresses. I will be posting three this week. I’ll be making some more detailed videos on each of the designs- but this is her initial reaction. If you have any questions- drop them in the comments- I love making response videos 💕 #fashiondesigner #grandmareacts #fashiondesign #surprise ♬ original sound – Julia
@_boringbb_ grandma design #6! This is a redo of a design I attempted back in September for a Halloween themed dress. I was not super happy with my work and decided to try it again. I think you can see my sewing skills getting better even in just a few months time. Practice makes perfect! #surprise #grandmareacts #grandmareaction #reveal ♬ original sound – Julia
