A few days ago, Warner Bros announced the start of pre-production of the prequel de The Chocolate Factory, which will focus on the life of the young man Willy Wonka, the famous character born from the pen of Roald Dahl and absolute protagonist also in the transpositions on the big screen. You may remember him in the most recent 2005 film version directed by Tim Burton. If you haven’t seen it yet, get it back because here, taking on the role of the iconic chocolatier, it is Johnny depp in one of his most successful interpretations.
what’s so great about Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka is that you go: wait, is that really Johnny Depp? and that’s when you know someone is an amazing actor pic.twitter.com/YkbuUbN7kG

At the news I literally went crazy, not only because we are talking about a story that I am very fond of (as a child I devoured the book and then the film) but because for the role of Willy Wonka, the historic American production company would be thinking of none other than one between Timothée Chalamet and Tom Holland. If you miss them, we will review them this year respectively in Dune and in Spider Man.
in what sense it is not known whether to take Tom Holland or Timothèe Chalamet to play Willy Wonka in the remake of the chocolate factory 👁👄👁 pic.twitter.com/Lx7kwgFXkn

The fans, of course, can’t wait and the civil war between the two sides has already started on social networks. Are you team Chalamet or team Holland?
as much as I adore Tom Holland, Timothée gives off more Willy Wonka vibes pic.twitter.com/DrXhywneTq

Clearly, since filming could start in a year or two, there is still nothing decided or final. We don’t know if they’ll be backing an audition, if they’ve already been warned or if a new name will pop up in the meantime. For five years there Warner tried to develop the story: in 2018, they were Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover ed Ezra Miller to contend for the role of the main protagonist. In 2021, however, the age of the character seems to have dropped significantly (perhaps to bring a younger target closer) and the only names that appear to exist are those of the two most beloved actors of the GenZ who, with their talent and their ways of to do, they won us over on and off the set.
Oh boy, I see them both. Tom for Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka while Rumple for Johnny Depp’s 😳 https://t.co/XG7a7jkGOV

There are already those who have tried to imagine them wearing the clothes of the owner of the chocolate factory, inspired by those of the two versions already released in the cinema, that of 1971 interpreted by Gene Wilder and the most recent one of Depp. The result is not bad at all. The answer to our questions, however, according to the American media should arrive in the next 4 months (the period of time dedicated to the pre-production phase). To date the film does not have a title yet, but we know it will be developed by David Heyman, historical producer of the saga of Harry Potter and that the current release date has been set for March 17, 2023. It will be directed instead Paul King and will be based on the script of Simon Rich (still inspired by Dahl’s novel).
How did young Willy Wonka live before he became the king of chocolate? Will we also see part of the relationship with the dentist father? To show us, perhaps, could be one of Timothée Chalamet and Tom Holland.
May the best man win!
