Tinkoff Investments is interested in adding cryptocurrencies to its platform

The Russian broker Tinkoff Investments is considering various projects related to cryptoassets, but due to the regulatory environment in Russia it is too early to talk about them.

As the director of Tinkoff Investments Dmitry Panchenko said, the topic of the company’s cryptocurrencies is interesting, but Russian brokers cannot offer such services yet.

“There are different approaches, but it is difficult to discuss, brokers cannot offer this service by law. The market is at the stage of research and development in terms of tools, some new business ideas. We look at what is in the world, what is happening in Robinhood, Revolut, PayPal. We see this evolution, but this is not happening in Russia yet ”.

Speaking at the Ural conference of NAUFOR “Russian Stock Market” Panchenko noted that the volume of Russian investments in digital assets is estimated at about $ 15 billion. And the services of working with cryptocurrencies and other digital assets are provided to Russian residents in foreign companies. Of course, this amount of money should remain in Russia, but the current legislation does not allow this.

At the same time, the director of Tinkoff Investments stressed that Russian clients consider cryptocurrencies precisely as an investment instrument:

“We see demand for investment purposes, not for use as a means of payment or a means of transporting assets, but as an investment instrument for investments and potential profit.”

Recall that the Central Bank of Russia “discovered” a new type of financial pyramids using cryptocurrencies – online investment games.
