RMS Titanic Inc, which manages the Titanic wreck and is responsible for the collection, has given the BBC permission to visit the premises to see the items up close. “It’s a really beautiful, modern little bag,” said Thomasina Ray, director of collections for RMS Titanic, showing off a bag made from alligator skin that survived decades in the depths of the North Atlantic. The objects inside have also been preserved, revealing details of the life of its owner, a third-class passenger named Marian Minwell. “She was a 63-year-old seamstress, traveling to the US to be with her recently widowed daughter,” Thomasina said.
