THE beach tennis became a national craze. Despite having arrived in Brazil in 2008, it was only in the last few years that the sport really won over the group that loves to practice physical activity in the sand.
After Rio de Janeiro, cities like São Paulo, Balneário Camboriú and Ribeirão Preto, just to name a few examples, were flooded with courts, whether in traditional clubs, gyms or even new spaces of their own.
With the Covid-19 pandemicthis even intensified: after the months of confinement, beach tennis emerged as an alternative to improve physical conditioning and health in the open.
The resumption of tourism also influenced the hotels that rushed to adapt their leisure areas, not only with courts, but even with tournaments and classes with professionals. Below is a list of five hotels that have joined this fever:
Ponta dos Ganchos Exclusive Resort – Santa Catarina
Located 60 km from Florianópolis, the Tip of Hooks It is located on a green peninsula of 80 thousand m² bathed by the Costa Smeralda sea, in the north of Santa Catarina. On Pitinga beach and five minutes from the center of Arraial D’Ajuda, the Kûara It is located in an area of approximately 27 thousand m² surrounded by the Atlantic Forest and cliffs on the southern coast of Bahia. The hotel has two Beach Tennis courts overlooking the sea that are available to guests from 8 am. Visitors can even hire a teacher for private lessons.
Fairmont Rio de Janeiro
THE fairmont river, in Copacabana, has never invested so much in beach tennis lessons. Now, the hotel offers classes and training sessions from Friday to Sunday, on the beach, with a view of the Copacabana Fort. In addition, the hotel is one of the sponsors of the RJ Beach Tennis Circuit.
Royal Palm Plaza Resort – Campinas
In the interior of São Paulo, the Royal Palm Plaza Resorthotel that is just 5 kilometers from downtown Campinas, it has four beach tennis courts, with official measures, and a team that not only plays with guests, but has didactics to teach those who want to take classes.
Hotel Toriba – Campos do Jordão
One of the most traditional hotels in Campos do Jordão, the Toriba opened its first beach tennis court this year, and is promoting exclusive classes for guests. The court has fine sand and is 16 m long x 8 m wide. Lucas Farkouh, professional player and current number 1 in the Liga Paulista de Tennis ranking, will be at the hotel every two weeks to promote matches and organize competitions.
