President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) told the CNN who expects a closer relationship with the US government after the bilateral meeting he will have with US President Joe Biden this Thursday (9). The meeting is scheduled to take place at 19:10 (Brasilia time).
“I expect from the meeting a rapprochement between the United States and Brazil. That we can get closer. We never had a problem with the United States. Brazil is open to talk and have a relationship with any country.”
President Jair Bolsonaro also said that, on the part of the Brazilian government, there are several topics to be addressed, such as transition energy (green hydrogen). But he also highlighted – without revealing the subject – that he will deal with confidential matters.
“We are going to talk about various topics, including renewable sources, transition energy, green hydrogen. But I will also talk privately with him [Joe Biden]”.
Will be part of the presidential entourage for the Summit of the Americas, the first lady Michele Bolsonaro; the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos França; the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Anderson Torres; the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga and the Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Álvaro Pereira.
Communications Minister Fábio Faria posted on social media that he will not accompany Jair Bolsonaro to the Summit of the Americas meeting on medical recommendation.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to accompany the PR to the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles. Despite testing negative for Covid, I have had a high fever and chills since early afternoon. The PR doctor thought it prudent not to go. I’m sure it will be a successful mission”, said the minister.
