To CNN, Bolsonaro says he intends to sanction a salary floor for nurses, technicians, assistants and midwives

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said that he intends to sanction the new salary floor for nurses, technicians, assistants and midwives, and that he awaits a definition on what the source of funding will be.

Congress approved the matter without defining where the more than 22 billion reais would come from, the value of the total impact on the public budget.

“I intend to sanction. I am waiting for the definition of what the source of funds will be”, she stressed.

At the beginning of the month, the Chamber of Deputies approved — by a large majority (449 to 12 votes) — the bill that sets the base salary for nurses at R$ 4,750.

However, the bill (PL 2564/2020) has not yet been sent for sanction by the President of the Republic, because parliamentarians did not include the source of funds in the proposal. As it stands, the matter approved in Congress can be prosecuted by mayors and governors.

The Senate intends to put on the voting agenda next week the PEC 11/2022, an initiative of Senator Eliziane Gama (Citizenship-MA), which provides legal certainty to the project. However, the source of funding for the proposal on the minimum salary for nurses is still not defined in Congress.
