10 years ago, a teenager from Votuporanga, in the interior of São Paulo, released the album Fora de Moda, with several of his own compositions and clips that portray the common problems of 15-year-olds.
Over time, the singer conquered Brazil with several hits and made the name Gustavo Mioto known even by those who are not very connected in the sertanejo world. On Instagram alone, there are 6 million admirers following the singer’s releases.
To celebrate a decade of career, Mioto released the DVD “Ao Vivo em Recife” in two parts. The second came out on February 2nd and features the releases “Fuga”, “Cadeia” and “Onde Tu Vai Sentar”, with the participation of Leo Santana, owner of the hit “Zona de Danger”. All tracks are available on all major music apps.
In an interview with CNN, the singer reflected on the beginning of his career and said that if he had the opportunity to go back in time and give advice to his younger self, he would not say anything.
“I really like superhero movies. So I know that any change in the past changes the future. So, if I went back in time, I would just watch everything happen with less agony, enjoying seeing the process from afar, without the anxiety”, he replied.
According to the singer, if he told his younger version not to give up, it could end up encouraging the opposite effect. “Maybe, knowing it was going to work, I wouldn’t have given so much blood,” he replied.
What else has changed in recent years and what has stayed the same? For Mioto, the answer is the same: himself.
“I think I’m still that kid who wants to make history within music, the same kid who wants to have eternal songs that people will sing forever”.
But in other ways, the singer has transformed. “I changed my taste, I changed the way I speak and write, the way I sing. So the thing that changed the most and that stayed the same, ”he clarified.
To CNN, Gustavo Mioto also told which song in his repertoire he believes to be the fan favorite, what it’s like to have a good relationship with an audience of all ages and which Brazilian state he still needs to visit.
