To prevent Ômicron, we have to do what we already know: vaccinate, says doctor

Vaccines and restrictive measures are the best form of prevention against the micron variant of the coronavirus, said André Kalil, an infectious disease physician and researcher at the University of Nebraska, in an interview with CNN this Sunday (5).

“For us to prevent Ômicron, we have to do what we already know in these two years: we will have to vaccinate”, he said.

According to Kalil, the moment is not one of panic, but one of focus and reinforcement of the measures already adopted so far.

Panicking right now won’t help us. Panicking will cause lack of coordination, lack of organization

Kalil also said that we cannot believe in herd immunity caused by natural Covid-19 infection.

“We learned that herd immunity, or collective, due to natural infection, did not happen and will not happen”, he concluded.
