AUO has introduced a large screen that is clearly aimed at gamers – both PC and console users. The novelty is characterized by a diagonal of 85 inches and a frame rate of 240 Hz. Even the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, for all their might, are not capable of delivering 4K at this frame rate, so the screen (and TVs based on it) is ready for the next generation consoles.
The panel has reportedly already received an award from the Ministry of Science and Technology of China as Best Innovative Product of 2021. There are no particular details about the characteristics: it only talks about support for HDR technology, advanced anti-glare technology and coverage of 96% of the DCI-P3 color space. TVs based on the new panel are likely to be equipped with HDMI 2.1 ports (and maybe DisplayPort 2.0), but when their mass production will be launched, it is not reported.
