According to TASS with reference to a Bloomberg report, the United States may cancel some visa requirements for highly educated Russians in order to lure them to work. Thus, the Joe Biden administration asked Congress for permission to cancel the requirement for proof of employment for Russian specialists seeking a US work visa. Interestingly, the initiative was included in a request for additional funds to help Ukraine sent to lawmakers on Thursday.
According to Bloomberg, the US is looking to recruit masters and PhDs with experience in semiconductors, space technology, cybersecurity, advanced technologies and computer systems, nuclear technology, artificial intelligence, rocket engine development and other fields. An unnamed representative of the National Security Council at the White House confirmed to the agency that the initiative is aimed at “weakening the high-tech resources” of the Russian Federation in the near future, and in the long term – to “undermine the innovation base” of Russia, while strengthening the US economy and national security.
