Tokyo: 3D billboard shows Pokemon felines dancing

At the Shinjuku Station Subway East Exit at Tokyo will remain until September 5th 3D billboard that was launched on this year’s World Cat Day by Pokemon Go and shows the company’s beloved heroes dancing.

The billboard features Pokemon’s most beloved felines Meowth, Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Skitty, Glameow, Purrloin, Espurr and Litten.

The one-minute video, as broadcast by the Athens News Agency, is a delightful choreography of three-dimensional effects. It starts with Pikachu next to the company logo.

Within seconds, the shot cuts to the backdrop of a lush rainforest into which different cat figures make their chaotic entrance; they pop out onto the Cross Shinjuku Vision 3D billboard as if interacting with the building itself or as if facing passers-by to greet them. At intervals, the tropical background is flooded with fire, ice, or water pouring out of the frame.

At one point, a shower of Poké Balls cascades across the front of the screen before being ‘pushed aside’ by Espurr, Galarian Meowth and Meowth; the latter seemingly grabbing the frame and looking down, smiling a ‘welcome’.

The video closes with all the characters next to or over the company logo, giving us one last sneak peek before they leave
