Japan's Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation in December 2023 fell further as inflation continues to cool in major economic centers in Tokyo, falling to 2.4% year-on-year in December from 2.6% in November.
Tokyo's core CPI (which excludes fresh food price volatility) broadly met market expectations and stood at 2.1% year-on-year in December, up from 2.3% annualized in November.
Tokyo's “core-core” CPI inflation (core CPI minus energy prices) also fell and stood at 3.5% year-on-year, down from 3.6% year-on-year seen in November.
