The United States National Weather Service confirmed the formation of a tornado southeast of Okeene, Oklahoma.
The tornado is “heavily enveloped in rain,” according to the weather service, which urged people living near Lacey, Bison or Waukomis to “shelter in place now.”
“Very large hail is possible with this storm,” forecasters warned earlier.
Radar images also show warnings of tornado formation in the northwest of the state.
Additionally, a rare “particularly dangerous situation” tornado warning is in effect for parts of south-central Kansas and central Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, until 11 p.m. from Brasilia).
This warning is issued only when there is an exceptionally high possibility of multiple strong, long-lived tornadoes.
