Tornado reached gaucho municipality during temporal, says Civil Defense

A tornado would have occurred on the afternoon of Friday (9), in the municipality of Erval Grande, during the storm that hit Rio Grande do Sul. According to the Civil Defense, the phenomenon was the result of heat transport and moisture from the north of the country, coupled with the deepening of a low pressure system and the displacement of a cold front.

The passage of the phenomenon caused intense gusts of wind, causing damage to buildings and the power grid, as well as falling branches and trees.

Also according to information from the Gaúcha Civil Defense, in data prepared by Inmet, a cold front was observed in RS, near the border with Uruguay, as well as the performance of a low pressure system, with its center located over Paraguay.

These systems would be responsible for the occurrence of severe thunderstorms, with large accumulated of rain, as well as gusts of intense wind. Still, with the potential for the formation of phenomena such as gusty fronts, micro explosions, water trips and tornadoes, as was the case.
