The Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, met this Thursday (9) with the British minister for Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Vicky Ford, to provide clarification on the disappearance of English journalist Dom Phillips and Brazilian indigenist Bruno Pereira in Amazon.
“We can show her everything that is being done, the Brazilian government’s commitment to locating these people who are missing. A task force was set up in the Amazon region. Various police, fire, military. There are lines of investigation. We have over 250 people involved in the searches. Two aircraft, more than 20 vessels, every possible effort by the Brazilian government is being made. Our commitment is to go all the way, to exhaust all possibilities before stopping.”
The Minister of Justice traveled with President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to the IX Summit of the Americas, in California, with the aim of also establishing a diplomatic relationship with the British government to deal with the disappearance of the reporter and the indigenist.
“The Guardian” journalist Dom Philips and Funai (National Indian Foundation) licensed employee Bruno Araújo Pereira have been missing since last Sunday (5), while traveling through an indigenous area known as Vale Javaro, in Amazonas. This region is considered dangerous for registering cases of drug trafficking, illegal mining and wood smuggling.
