Total credit stock adds up to BRL 4.5 trillion and rises 1.5% in October, says BC

With an increase of 1.5% compared to the previous month, the stock of operations credit reached BRL 4.497 trillion in October. The value is also 11.8% higher than that registered in the same month last year.

The numbers are from the Credit Monetary Note, released this Friday (26) by the central bank (BC). The granting of credit was R$ 21.5 billion, 1% more than in October of last year.

For individuals, the balance of credit operations increased 15.3% compared to October 2020 and 1.9% compared to the immediately previous month. For companies, the increase was 7.5% and 0.9% in the annual and monthly comparison, respectively.

At 2.3% of the total balance of operations, delinquency remained stable in relation to the immediately previous month, but increased 0.2 percentage point compared to October 2020.

In free resources, the stock of credit reached R$ 2.643 trillion in October, with growth of 13.8% compared to the same month last year. Also in this segment, credit granting totaled R$383.5 billion in the period, up 19.3%.

Credit with earmarked resources, which is subsidized by governments, totaled BRL 1.853 trillion in October. The value is 9.2% higher than that registered in the same month last year. Credit granting totaled R$45.4 billion, up 10.2%.

Overall, the share of credit in the Gross Domestic Product (START) reached 53.2% in October, less than 53.0% in September.
