Tour guide dies while reacting to robbery committed by two women in downtown Rio

In the early hours of last Wednesday (4) a tour guide was killed in downtown Rio while reacting to an assault by two women. The suspects are being sought by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC).

Images from the security cameras at the site show Daniel Mascarenhas Xavier da Silva, 31, being approached by the two women who were on a motorcycle. They took her purse and the belongings the victim had in her pocket.

At this moment, Daniel reacted and was stabbed. Videos show a mess as he tries to recover what was stolen and the two women get off the bike with the gun. Even injured, Daniel took his belongings back and walked out of the place.

According to the Civil Police, the victim ended up dying shortly after. The authority also reported that a simulacrum of a firearm and knife used in the crime were seized. In the investigations, testimonies reported that the women “insinuated to people who approached them that the victim was a criminal and had attacked both of them.”

In a note, the Military Police said that in addition to the military police, a team from the Fire Department was also triggered and found the death.
