Tour Tour Bubble: Understand 1st big change in the White House

United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he will appoint Mike Waltz to serve as the United Nations ambassador, removing him from the position of National Security Counselor.

Waltz was placed in the “refrigerator” and lost most of his influence on the west after he was mistakenly added The Atlantic editor-in-chief to a group in the Signal application (messaging application), where war plans were shared.

The first major change in the White House configuration comes as a consolation award for Waltz, as Trump gives little importance to the position of UN ambassador.

See what we know about the case.

How did we get here?

Since the beginning of this week, it was clear that Waltz’s work leading the National Security Council had come to an end. His position in the Trump administration has been shaken since a journalist in The Atlantic magazine revealed that he was placed in a messaging group – with other US officials – where an attack plan against the hethis in Yemen was planned.

Trump came to Waltz side at the time, but the counselor could not recover his influence within the administration.

Rubio assumes the position

Marco Rubio will serve as Secretary of State and interim national security counselor, Trump said in a post on the Social Truth.

State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce expressed confidence that Rubio could do both work and said the former senator had a “close working relationship” with Trump.

Rubio also operates in two other positions in Administration: National Archivist and Interim Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Trump does not mention Waltz in speech

Trump did not mention Waltz during a speech at Rose Garden this Thursday (1). But he praised other members of his cabinet, starting with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who was also involved in Signal conversations. Hegseth has much more support outside the administration throughout the Maga movement than Waltz, which was seen with deep suspicion between the base.

Waltz’s reaction

Waltz said in an X post that he was “deeply honored” for continuing to serve Trump and the country. Earlier, democrats in the US capitol reacted widely reacted Waltz’s expected expulsion saying that Trump was firing the wrong national security officer. They believed that Hegseth deserved to have been removed from office.

Trump’s history

Trump went through three national security counselors during his first term. Trump’s first national security advisor Michael Flynn was in office for just 25 days. Flynn’s replacement, Hr McMaster, was able to last longer – for over 13 months. Trump then announced John Bolton for work, which was out about a year later, followed by Robert O’Brien.
