Tourist attractions in Rio expect to receive at least 30,000 people by the end of the year

The tourism sector hopes to receive around 30,000 tourists in the main tourist attractions in the city of Rio by the end of the year. If the forecast is confirmed, this will be the best movement recorded since January 2020.

Pão de Açúcar alone expects to receive an average of six thousand visitors per day until next weekend. Only in the last weeks of December, the movement in the attraction presented a growth of 25% compared to the previous month.

According to the company that manages Pão de Açúcar, the volume of tourists on the postcard should reach pre-pandemic levels.

The Ferris Wheel located in the port region of the capital is also expected to be in high demand in the last days of the year. According to the concessionaire, the attraction is prepared to receive around 9,000 people a week.

The Corcovado Train, the main access to Christ the Redeemer, in the South Zone of Rio, expects a record movement for the last days of 2021. The expectation is that 10 thousand people circulate through the station, which is located in Cosme Velho. Last weekend, the attraction received more than 4.7 thousand tourists.

“On the corcovado train, the expectation is that 10,000 people will visit us before the turn of the year. We do hope that Rio de Janeiro is completely full, consequently filling the hotels as well”, said the president of Trem do Corcovado, Sávio Neves, to CNN.

A few days before New Year’s Eve, hotels in the city of Rio de Janeiro have already registered an occupancy rate of 92% and the expectation is that spaces will already run out in the coming days. The data are part of the survey by the Union of Accommodation Means of the City of Rio de Janeiro (HotelsRIO).
