Tourist balloon falls with 9 people on board in the interior of São Paulo

A tourist balloon crashed in a sugarcane plantation in Boituva, in the interior of São Paulo, this Tuesday (17). Nine people were on board and four were injured, one in a serious condition, according to information from the state fire department.

There were 7 passengers, a photographer and the pilot.

A strong gust of wind would have caused the balloon to tip over when it was lining up to land, according to a statement from the city of Boituva. The Fire Department initially reports that the balloon had suffered two falls, with victims in different places when help arrived.

Also according to the city hall, firefighters from the cities of Porto Feliz and Sorocaba also participate in the rescue with colleagues from Boituva.

The Boituva Balloon Operational Center informed that the balloons were prohibited from flying because of the weather conditions and that it will investigate the causes of the accident and that it will file appropriate legal measures against those responsible.
