Tourist traffic on the islands of the South Aegean is at a high rate

Tourist traffic to the islands of the South Aegean for the current tourist year in the international markets continues to be at high levels, which can also be seen from the planned direct international air arrivals, which took place in the month of June.

Taking into account the figures of arrivals to the five international airports of the South Aegean (Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Kos, Karpathos), reports the South Aegean Initiative for Tourism*, it is not out of place to claim that the arrivals of foreign visitors to the tourist year of 2022 in the Cyclades and Dodecanese, will surpass the levels of 2019, as a result of the successful strategy and management of the destination during the challenging two years of the pandemic.

Already so far, this year’s April has surpassed April 2019’s arrivals by 13% and May by 5%. Likewise, June 2022 presents a truly impressive course, surpassing by 13% June of the last pre-pandemic year.
