Toyota Motor unveiled the bZ4X electric crossover at the Shanghai International Motor Show today. This is the first car of the newly formed bZ brand to be used as an electric vehicle by Toyota.
bZ stands for beyond Zero, as the company declares its intention to create vehicles with zero emissions. A total of 15 models are planned to be released in the bZ1 line. As expected, the first model of the new line was an all-wheel drive electric crossover, which is similar in size to the Toyota RAV4.

The car is based on the e-TNGA platform, which was developed in conjunction with Subaru for electric vehicles with front, rear or all-wheel drive. The wheelbase of the bZ4X is longer than that of the Toyota RAV4, so the interior of the new car will also be larger.
Photos of the interior show the large-screen infotainment system, as well as the lack of a gear knob. The steering wheel was replaced with a steering wheel. Earlier, Tesla decided on a similar experiment, which presented an updated Model S sedan. Under the “washer” for controlling the transmission is a charging station for a smartphone.

The technical specifications of the Toyota bZ4X have not yet been disclosed, and mass production is scheduled to begin in the middle of next year.
