The story with the paid ability to start Toyota cars from the key fob was continued.

Toyota decided to remove the remote start button from the key fobs of new cars altogether after the scandal with a paid subscription

If the initial news was surprising, including how the operation of the button on the key can be associated with any paid service, now Toyota has announced that it will simply no longer add the corresponding button to the key fobs.

Moreover, recall that the same paid subscription applies to cars released since 2018. And in many cases (depending on the bundle) the free trial is limited to three years. So the owners of such cars at some point will find that their button for remote start of the car simply stopped working. To resume the function, you will need to buy a subscription, which, recall, costs $ 80 per year or $ 8 per month. It, of course, includes not only and not so much the remote launch function, but this function will not work without a subscription.

Recall that the Russian representative office of Toyota recently announced that such metamorphoses are not expected in cars for our country, so it is likely that our key fobs will remain the same. But so far this nuance has not yet been confirmed.
