The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$ 8.813 billion in June. The number is 15.4% lower than the balance for the same month last year.
The numbers were released by the Ministry of Economy only this Friday (1st). The trade flow, which serves as a thermometer for economic activity, increased 22.6% compared to June 2021. In total, the sum of Brazilian exports and imports was US$ 56.536 billion.
Brazilian exports advanced 15.6%, totaling US$ 32.675 billion in June. This result was mainly driven by an increase of 38.5% in exports of products from the Brazilian Manufacturing Industry. The Agriculture and Livestock sector advanced 30.4%. The sale of Extractive Industries products retreated 24.3% in the month.
At the same time, imports totaled US$ 23.861 billion, a value 22.7% higher than the result of the same month last year. The highlight was the import of products from the Extractive Industry, which, in the month, rose 144.4%. The purchase of goods from the foreign manufacturing industry rose 27.9%, while imports of agricultural products grew 22.8%.
Year-to-date, the trade balance totaled a surplus of US$ 34.246 billion. The value represents a drop of 8.2% compared to the first half of last year. The result was driven by increases of 19.5% and 29.8% in exports and imports, respectively.
