The Shvabe holding of the Rostec state corporation and the Art. Lebedev Studio are developing a fundamentally new concept of traffic lights. This was reported by the press service of Rostec.
The project was presented within the framework of the international industrial exhibition “Innoprom-2021”, which takes place from 5 to 8 July in Yekaterinburg.
As conceived by the developers, the “traffic light of the future” can be used as an interactive road sign, abandoning the traditional three-section scheme. The main feature should be a single screen on which all the necessary information will be displayed.
There are three traffic light variations – with a vertically extended screen for highways, a smaller version for pedestrians and cyclists, and a square version for city streets.
The traffic light will be able to display not only the usual signals and symbols, but also additional animated content – features of the traffic situation and permissible maneuvers, and so on. The functionality of the traffic light can be expanded with the help of special modules – with sensors for monitoring noise, CO2 content, 5G and Wi-Fi adapters.
