Traffic police officers in the Republic of Adygea officially announced that they began to actively use drones in order to monitor violations of traffic rules – they even published a frame on the organization’s website showing how an unmanned aerial vehicle records an offense. To launch the drones, a special aviation squadron is used, which is responsible for unmanned aerial vehicles. The drones themselves can boast quite impressive capabilities – for example, they are able to view up to five kilometers of the road in two directions from the traffic police outfit.
And if the device registers a violation of traffic rules (for example, entering the oncoming lane), the drone automatically locks onto the target and monitors the vehicle until the offender is stopped by representatives of law enforcement agencies. In addition, during the flight, the drone will record the entire process of tracking the vehicle, from the offense to the stop by the traffic police. The recording is automatically saved on the drone operator’s disk, after which it can be provided to the violator in the format of evidence attached to the violation report.
Traffic police officers in Adygea said that in the current year alone, with the help of a drone, they managed to track and catch 45 lawbreakers who decided to drive into the oncoming lane. Moreover, on this section of the route where drones are used, not a single accident was recorded during the entire operation – this, according to the traffic police, is directly related to the use of drones in the process of patrolmen. Perhaps, if this experiment turns out to be successful, drones will begin to be used in other regions of the country.
