Traffic record at this year’s Poseidonia

The curtain fell on the record-attendance on Friday 10/06, the curtain of the shipping exhibition “Poseidonia 2022”, giving its next appointment for 2024.

Significant business deals were reached during this year’s show, such as Maran Gas Maritime’s order to Daewoo Shipbuilding for two $ 233.7 million LNG carriers.

The internationally accredited classification society DNV, based in Høvik, Norway, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Saronic Ferries for the development of an electric ship in Greece from 2026.

At the same time, strategic partnerships were formalized, such as that of Capital Ship Management and Lloyd’s Register, which announced their intention to test new biofuels in a pilot project at the Capital VLCC-managed Apollonas (300,000dwt).

Also, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the ports of Thessaloniki-Patras, by Thanos Liago, Executive Chairman of the Board. of OLTH SA, and Panagiotis Tsoni, managing director and executive member of the Board. of OLPA SA Through this cooperation, emphasis will be placed on the development of innovative technologies, the better preparation of ports for new environmental data and new business opportunities.

For his contribution to Greek shipping was honored on the last day of Poseidonia, Theodoros Veniamis, the 13-year president of the Hellenic Shipowners Association in the framework of the organization “YES to Shipping Forum 2022”, the event for the new generation of Greek shipping.

For her part, the new President of the Union, Melina Travlou, thanked Mr. Veniamis for the trust he showed her, describing her as a “mentor” in her involvement with the shipping public. “Theodoris was the man who in his own way inspired me to be actively involved with the Union and today to be its president,” he said.
