Dramatic Scenes

Stunning images show emergency teams carrying out rescue operations to save residents stranded on the roofs of homes surrounded by water.

In one of the scenes, a helicopter approaches dangerously close to the roof of a house to rescue the residents, highlighting the dexterity of the pilots and the urgency of the situation.

Another striking image reveals dogs isolated on small islands formed by the flood, barking desperately in search of help. The streets of Canoas turned into real rivers, with traffic only taking place by boat.

Devastation Scenario

The most affected neighborhoods were those close to the city center, such as Rio Branco and Matias Velho. Entire houses and buildings were taken by water, forcing residents to take shelter on the upper floors.

According to reports, even more recent and robust constructions were not spared by the force of the waters. The situation is particularly serious for the poorest communities, where many families are unable to stock up on food or basic items.
