A 9-year-old boy in England was tragically killed when he was struck by lightning while playing football on a stadium in Blackpool off the coast of Lancashire in England.
According to the BBC, the boy was taken to hospital however failed to survive.
The local Spirit of Youth team, at the stadium where the child was killed, issued a statement expressing condolences to the family.
“We are deeply saddened to report that the young boy who was” struck “by lightning earlier today, unfortunately, died. The tragic incident happened at our stadium, but not during training. The boy may not have been a member of the club, but the club is like a family and we are ready to support the family for whatever it takes. “As a club, we express our deepest condolences to the boy’s family,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
