A fire cost the lives of 18 people which took place today (07/03) at a chemical plant in the western city of Pune India. Police said 20 people escaped.
The charred corpses were all located and the local authorities ordered an investigation into the matter.
According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, the fire broke out in a factory where the chemical company SVS Aqua Technologies manufactures products such as hand sanitizers.
In videos that saw the light of day, thick smoke can be seen rising above the building, while firefighters fight to put out the flames.
The country’s prime minister, Narendra Monti, expressed his condolences via Twitter. He also promised that the relatives of the dead would receive compensation of 200,000 rupees (about 2,500 euros) and those injured would be compensated in the amount of 50,000 rupees.
