“They fell into a vacuum in what they thought was certain death,” the lawsuit said on July 8, according to the Daily Mail. The lawsuit was filed against the Champlain Towers South Condominium Association by mother’s brother Kevin Fang and boy’s father Neil Handler.

As of Sunday, at least 15 lawsuits had been filed over the building’s collapse.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced Sunday that the death toll now stood at 90, compared to 86 the day before. The 90 victims include the bodies of 71 people who have been identified and their families have been notified.

About 31 more people remain missing.

Among those recently identified are three young children. “Stacie and Jonah fell several floors and miraculously were still alive”, according to the lawsuit.

Rescuers operating at the scene managed to pull the boy out of the wreckage. “Jonah survived, but with serious injuries. “His mother was killed.”
