Tragedy in Turin, the last photo on the crane: who were the three workers who lost their lives

Suspended in the air, a tens of meters high. With the wool hat to protect yourself from the cold e the smile on your face, because that was their job. But yet, Marco Pozzetti (54 years old, from Carugate), Roberto Peretto (52, of Cassano d’Adda) and Filippo Falotico (20, by Coazze) right on the job lost my life, victims from the dramatic collapse of the crane which on Saturday 18 December shocked Torino, and not only.

The dynamics of the accident has not yet been clarified, although according to prime reconstructions it seems that there was “a subsidence of the base of the crane which caused the collapse of the reticular structure“. In essence, it collapsed in on itself, with the main arm which broke in two while remaining hooked to the base e swooping down on the building opposite, in the neighborhood of Nizza Millefonti.

The rescues were immediate, but for the three workers who fell there was not no way. Not even for the very young Filippo, who he died in the hospital after a desperate attempt at resuscitation: he himself was talking on social media his profession with great enthusiasm, posting photos and videos. The last one selfie, ironically, he did it on his own crane with the two colleagues, the day before the collapse.

Marco also used social media to tell stories his passions, from family trips to love for bike, and under his shots there are already memories loved ones and adventure companions. “There is pain and bewilderment», Writes the mayor of Turin instead, Stefano Lo Russo. “These three deaths are one serious injury for the city, because workplaces should be places where they can feel safe».

But no: Marco, Roberto and Filippo, unfortunately, are the last names of a long list. “We would not like to be confronted once again to the umpteenth massacre in construction sites linked to times and methods of work, where haste and excessive speed it increases the risks, where recovery always rhymes with accidents and undeclared work ”, he denounces Maurizio Landini, secretary of the CGIL. «The construction sites cannot become it wild west».
