A woman died tragically at an Indonesian airport after opening one of the doors a lift and fell into the well. Aisiah Sinta Dewi, 38, was on the second floor on her way to meet her niece at the check-in area at Kualanamu Airport in Medan on April 24.
CCTV footage shows the woman entering the airport lift before fiddling with her mobile phone. She looked confused when the elevator stopped with the doors closed. Unaware that another set of doors had opened behind her, she began to push the emergency buttons frantically while trying to open the doors that were closed.
The woman then reportedly called her niece to tell her she was trapped as she continued to push against the closed doors. Soon the doors finally opened and the woman dive into the void, meeting a tragic death. However, the even more tragic thing is that the woman was found dead three days after her fall and after her relatives informed the airport authorities that they had lost track of her, reports the Daily Mail.

For his part, the 38-year-old’s brother spoke of insufficient safety measures in the elevator, refuting claims that it was his sister’s fault.
