Tragic ending in France: The two missing pilots found dead after the Rafale crash

The two French pilots who were missing were found dead after their Rafale jets collided mid-air in eastern France, the country’s President Emmanuel Macron said. One pilot ejected from his plane after the crash in northeastern France, but authorities launched a desperate search for a missing instructor and trainee pilot in the second plane. “We learn with sadness of the death of Captain Sébastien Mabire and Second Lieutenant Matisse Laurents in an air accident during a Rafale training mission,” Macron wrote on the “X” platform, formerly Twitter. “The nation shares the grief of their families and their brothers in arms at Air Base 113 in Saint-Dizier” in eastern France, he added. Intensive investigations were conducted after the collision of the two fighters, in the sector of Colombi le Belle (Lorraine). A third pilot, at the controls of the other aircraft, was able to deploy his ejection seat and is unharmed.
